Palanga's New Public Toilet Earns Five-Star User Rating

Palanga, Lithuania – A new public toilet in the resort town of Palanga has opened to rave reviews, with visitors awarding it a perfect five stars. Locals and tourists alike praised the facility, located on Meilės alėja near the Jūros Bridge, for its exceptional cleanliness and modern amenities.

One visitor from Šiauliai exclaimed, "Super, not everyone has this at home," while another man joked that the cleanliness made him reluctant to use the facilities at all. The new restroom, which opened its doors on August 13, 2026, is free to use.

Palanga Mayor Šarūnas Vaitkus celebrated the opening on Facebook, calling the structure "more than a public toilet" and one of the most modern sanitary buildings in Lithuania. The facility boasts 34 stalls for men and women, a dedicated mother-and-child room, and a spacious unit for people with disabilities that includes an emergency call system. The building also features an automatic water softener to prevent limescale buildup and continuous monitoring to address potential issues proactively.

Within an hour of opening, the toilet was already seeing significant use. Palanga currently offers 43 public restrooms across its beaches, dunes, and town center, with a map available to help visitors locate them, following public criticism. The municipality has also implemented a map of public toilets and water stations.
