PAN takes its complaints against Morena to the European Parliament: “We will tell the world what is happening in Mexico”

The National Action Party, or PAN, arrived at the European Parliament in Brussels promising to tell the world “what is happening in Mexico” under what its leaders called the Morena government.

PAN national leader Jorge Romero Herrera said he and other party figures traveled to Brussels to meet European leaders and discuss the situation in Mexico. He was accompanied by Santiago Taboada, a former candidate for head of government of Mexico City, and Mariana Gómez del Campo, among other PAN figures.

The delegation met David McAllister, president of the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee. Romero said the party was using the meetings to strengthen alliances in Europe, improve its proposals and build a governing alternative that would respond to the needs of Mexican families.

But the visit also carried a direct accusation. PAN said it would raise what it described as a supposed association between drug trafficking and officials who had sworn to protect the public. Romero referred to the situation as “the fraud of the Fourth Transformation,” the political project associated with Morena.

In a social media message, Romero said, “At Acción Nacional, we are strengthening alliances in Europe to enrich our proposals and build a government alternative that responds to what Mexico needs.”
