Serena and Venus Williams Receive Wildcard for Cincinnati Doubles

Tennis legends Serena and Venus Williams are set to reunite on the doubles court after receiving a wildcard invitation to compete at the WTA 1000 event in Cincinnati.

This prestigious tournament, scheduled to take place from August 8 to 23, serves as the final significant warm-up event before the upcoming US Open. The Williams sisters, who boast an impressive record of 14 Grand Slam doubles titles and three Olympic gold medals, last played together at the US Open in 2022.

In addition to their doubles partnership, Venus Williams, 46, has also been granted entry into the singles main draw. Her younger sister, Serena, 44, a 23-time Grand Slam singles champion, is also returning to singles competition. Serena had previously played doubles at Wimbledon but withdrew from singles at that event due to a knee injury after her first singles match in four years.

Other notable players receiving main draw wildcards in the women's category include former US Open champion Sloane Stephens and fellow Americans Taylor Townsend, Caroline Dolehide, and Elvina Kalieva. Serena Williams has a strong history at the Cincinnati tournament, having won the singles title twice, in 2014 and 2015.
