Panama baseball team finishes preparations before traveling to Santo Domingo

Panama's national baseball team has concluded its domestic preparations and is set to depart for Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on Tuesday. The squad will compete in the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games with the explicit goal of securing a medal.

"We have worked hard and with all professionalism to give our all. This group is committed and our objective is to compete for a medal. We know it will be a very demanding tournament, but we trust in the talent and dedication of our players," stated Alberto Macré, the team's director, after the final training sessions.

The Panamanian delegation is scheduled to leave at 9:00 AM local time. In the tournament, Panama is placed in Group B alongside Mexico, Nicaragua, and Colombia. Their opening game is against Mexico on July 31, followed by a match against Nicaragua on August 1, and concluding the group stage against Colombia on August 2.

Historically, the baseball tournament at these games has been dominated by Cuba. Panama has previously won three silver medals (1935, 1938, 2002) and four bronze medals (1930, 1959, 1966, 1982). The team is looking to return to the podium after a more than two-decade absence, fielding a roster that blends experienced players with emerging talent.
