Panama City Mayor Advances Micro-entrepreneur Regularization Program

Panama City's Mayor Mayer Mizrachi is spearheading an initiative to formalize micro-entrepreneurs within the capital district. The program aims to provide these small business owners with the necessary tools and guidance to conduct their operations in an orderly and secure manner, operating within municipal regulations.

The first group of beneficiaries has already undergone a training session organized by the Directorate of Community Services and the Sub-directorate of Micro-entrepreneurs. The training covered essential topics such as sanitary regulations for food carts, microcredit access requirements, and contract compliance. Participants also received instruction on digital wallets, QR codes, social media management, and brand identity application.

Currently, more than 740 micro-entrepreneurs are registered on the municipality's digital platform. Eight individuals from the initial group have successfully completed the regularization process, while twelve others are currently undergoing field inspections and document digitalization. The program seeks to enhance compliance with municipal and sanitary norms, improve the visual appeal of vendor stalls, and facilitate access to training, financing, and technological resources for entrepreneurs. For consumers, this means increased security and the ability to verify vendor authorization via QR codes.
