Panama Foundation Launches Fundraising Drive for Children with Cancer

The Friends of Children with Leukemia and Cancer Foundation (Fanlyc) in Panama has issued a call for public support to continue its vital services for children battling leukemia and cancer. The organization currently provides care and accompaniment to more than 600 children undergoing treatment.

Fanlyc reports that leukemia accounts for 60% of the childhood cancer cases they manage, with tumors in children and adolescents representing the second most frequent group. To sustain their efforts, volunteers will be on the streets, in businesses, and supermarkets across Panama this Saturday, seeking donations.

Children who come from all over the country and need to be treated in hospitals and require a place to stay, food, medication, and transportation, as well as many other services.

These volunteers will be easily identifiable, wearing official Fanlyc sweaters, caps, and carrying collection boxes. The foundation emphasizes that many young patients travel from various parts of the country and require additional support for their ongoing treatments. This includes assistance with accommodation, food, medication, and transportation.

Leslie Ducruet, Fanlyc's executive director, highlighted the critical need for these services. The fundraising drive is expected to involve over 2,500 volunteers stationed at different points from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Families of patients have expressed deep gratitude for Fanlyc's support, noting its crucial role in providing essential resources that contribute to the well-being of children fighting these serious illnesses.
