Panama international Édgar Yoel Bárcenas joins Greek club Iraklis FC

Panamanian international Édgar Yoel Bárcenas is set to continue his professional football career in Europe after signing with Iraklis FC, a historic club competing in the Greek Super League. The addition of the 30-year-old winger bolsters the Greek team with one of the most experienced and decorated players from the Panama National Team.

Bárcenas arrives in Greece after a successful stint in Mexico's Liga MX with Mazatlán FC. His career also includes significant experience in European football, having previously played in Spain for Real Oviedo, Girona, and CD Leganés. He began his professional career in his native Panama with Árabe Unido, where he won national titles, before moving to Europe to play for RNK Split in Croatia.

Iraklis FC officially welcomed the Panamanian player, highlighting his extensive international background. The club noted that Bárcenas, born October 23, 1993, in Colón, Panama, stands at 1.75 meters and primarily operates as a right winger, though he can also play on the left flank. His time at Real Oviedo was particularly notable, with 70 appearances and 14 goals in the league championship over two seasons.

A cornerstone of the Panama National Team, Bárcenas has earned over 100 caps and holds the distinction of participating in two World Cups. He was a starter in the historic 2018 Russia World Cup, Panama's first appearance in the tournament, and played a leadership role in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. His World Cup experience makes him one of the few Panamanian players to represent their country in multiple global tournaments.
