PSG gives star forward Ousmane Dembélé rest days

Paris Saint-Germain has granted star forward Ousmane Dembélé a period of rest, sidelining him from upcoming training sessions. The French club announced Tuesday that the player will resume training on Monday, indicating he will not be available for Friday's Ligue 1 match against Lille. This decision was made in agreement with the coaching staff and sporting management, according to the club's statement on social media platform X.

Dembélé's absence from the Lille match comes after a series of limited appearances since his return from the 2026 North American World Cup. He featured as a substitute in PSG's UEFA Super Cup victory over Aston Villa, providing an assist. He also played in the French Super Cup loss to Lens. Most recently, in PSG's 2-2 draw against Rennes on Sunday, Dembélé was substituted at halftime with his team trailing 2-0.

His replacement in the Rennes match, Ferran Torres, went on to score twice, helping PSG secure a draw. Dembélé, often referred to as 'The Mosquito,' has had a mixed start to the season, and this period of rest is intended to allow him to recover before rejoining the squad for full training.
