Panama leads renewal efforts for Association of Caribbean States during ministerial meeting

Panama is solidifying its regional leadership by spearheading the renewal of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) during a high-level working session in Panama City. The meeting concluded with the approval of key agreements set to be presented to foreign ministers at the 31st Ordinary Meeting of the ACS Council of Ministers on Sunday.

The preparatory meeting, held at the Hotel Sheraton, marked the beginning of a High-Level Week organized around the Bicentennial of the Amphictyonic Congress. This diplomatic event is drawing officials and representatives from numerous nations and international organizations to Panama.

ACS Secretary-General Noemí Espinoza lauded Panama's role during its presidency, stating, "It was a very successful meeting. Very important agreements were approved. Rogelio García Boyd, Director of Economic Relations at Panama's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who chaired the discussions, affirmed that the outcomes reflect the country's commitment. "Panama strongly upholds its leadership position. We took on a challenge and worked diligently and with great effort, and today there are concrete results to show," he stated.

The ACS Council of Ministers meeting on Sunday will also consider the ACS Strategic Plan towards 2035. Panama has invited delegations from Spain, the United Arab Emirates, and Serbia to participate. The High-Level Week will continue with events commemorating the Bicentennial of the Amphictyonic Congress, attended by several heads of state, and the opening of the 56th General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS).
