Panama to be Guest of Honor at Santo Domingo International Book Fair

Panama is set to be the guest of honor at the upcoming Santo Domingo International Book Fair, a significant cultural event scheduled to run from September 23 to October 4. The announcement was made by the Minister of Culture, Roberto Ángel Salcedo.

This 28th edition of the Santo Domingo International Book Fair (FILSD 2026) promises a robust program, gathering more than 70 international writers. Attendees can expect a wide array of 600 activities, encompassing book presentations, conferences, workshops, author meet-and-greets, film screenings, musical performances, and special programs for children and young people. The fair aims to enhance its international profile and serve as a hub for exchange among writers, readers, publishers, and cultural representatives.

The event will also pay tribute to the Dominican poet and essayist José Mármol, who will be honored with the release of three of his books: 'Esculpir la niebla,' 'Metáforas del tiempo,' and 'La escritura imposible.' In total, 23 Dominican titles are slated for presentation during the fair. The literary gathering will host 32 international publishing houses, 21 national ones, and 44 Dominican bookstores, alongside specialized pavilions and new editorial projects.
