Pantami a bonafide party member, Gombe PDP slams APC

The Gombe State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has firmly stated that Professor Isa Pantami is a legitimate member of their party, directly challenging assertions made by the Gombe State All Progressives Congress (APC). The PDP dismissed the APC's claims that Pantami, who is now the PDP's governorship candidate, had not resigned from the ruling party as "laughable" and indicative of ignorance regarding electoral laws and party constitutions.

We wish to categorically state that Professor Pantami is a bona fide member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), having duly complied with all the constitutional and legal requirements for membership of our party.

Earlier, the APC's Publicity Secretary in Gombe State, Moses Kyari, had raised concerns about Pantami's alleged failure to resign from the APC before securing the PDP ticket. However, the PDP maintains that Pantami has fulfilled all necessary constitutional and legal requirements for PDP membership. They claim to hold documentary evidence of his resignation from the APC, which they say was personally acknowledged by the APC chairman in Pantami Ward on May 19, 2026.

The chairman of the APC in Pantami Ward has stated that he acknowledged Pantami’s resignation letter in person on May 19, 2026, and subsequently posted it on social media, where it went viral.

The PDP urged the public and APC members to disregard what they called "misleading claims" from the Gombe APC, describing them as the efforts of a "sinking" party. The PDP also accused the APC of repeatedly raising a settled issue, noting this was the third press conference on the matter despite clear and documented facts. The party advised the APC to focus on preparing for the upcoming general election rather than engaging in what they termed "unnecessary distractions."

We therefore call on APC members and all Nigerians, from the national level down to the ward level, as well as the general public, to disregard the misleading claims being circulated by the sinking APC in Gombe State.
