Paragliding Tragedy in Çorum: Pilot Dies After Falling Onto Rocks

A paragliding pilot tragically died after falling from a cliff during a festival in Çorum, Turkey. Bayram Kurt, who had traveled from Antalya to participate in the 3rd Traditional Paragliding and Plateau Festival organized by the Oğuzlar Municipality, took off from Tekke Mountain, which stands at an altitude of 1,540 meters.

Shortly after takeoff, Kurt fell approximately 30 meters onto the rocky terrain below. Emergency services, including gendarmerie and health teams, were dispatched to the scene following an alert to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Despite receiving initial medical attention, Bayram Kurt was rushed to Oğuzlar State Hospital.

Doctors made every effort to save his life, but unfortunately, Kurt could not be revived. His body was transferred to the morgue for an autopsy, and the gendarmerie has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident. The news of Bayram Kurt's death cast a pall of sadness over the athletes who had gathered in the district for the paragliding event, now in its third year.
