Paraguay confirms 11 swimmers for South American Games, a qualifier for Pan Am Games

Paraguay's swimming team for the upcoming XIII South American Games Santa Fe 2026 has been finalized, with 11 athletes set to compete. The swimming events will take place from September 13-16 in Rosario, Argentina, at the Provincial Aquatic Center.

This competition holds significant importance as it serves as a qualifier for the Lima 2027 Pan American Games. It also provides a crucial platform for Paraguayan swimmers to prepare and assess their performance ahead of the World Aquatics Championships in Beijing 2026 and Budapest 2027.

The selected roster includes prominent swimmers who achieved the demanding qualifying marks. In the women's category, Nicole Rautemberg qualified in five events, including freestyle and butterfly strokes. María José Arrúa, Lara Giménez, Chiara Peralta, Cielo Peralta, Astrid Caballero, and Fiorella Mateos also secured spots in various disciplines.

Veteran swimmer Charles Daniel Hockin Brusquetti leads the men's team, having met the criteria in five events, primarily in backstroke and freestyle. Camilo Villalba, Bruno Heinichen, and Matheo Mateos round out the men's contingent. The Federation Paraguayan of Aquatic Sports (FEPADA) confirmed the list, highlighting impressive performances such as Hockin Brusquetti's times in the 100m freestyle and 50m backstroke, and Rautemberg's multiple qualifications.
