Paraguay Issues Severe Weather Alert for Asunción and 10 Departments Amidst Intensifying Storms

Paraguay's Directorate of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) has issued an updated severe weather alert, warning of impending storms across the capital, Asunción, and ten other departments. The alert forecasts conditions characterized by moderate to strong thunderstorms, accompanied by heavy rainfall, significant wind gusts, and a considerable risk of hail.

According to the DMH, storm cells associated with a convective system are persisting and intensifying over the country. This development raises the possibility of localized severe weather events occurring throughout Saturday afternoon. The affected areas primarily encompass the central and southern regions of both the Oriental and Occidental Paraguayan territories.

Residents in Asunción and the departments of Cordillera (South), Guairá, Caaguazú (Southwest), Caazapá, Itapúa, Misiones, Paraguarí, Central, Ñeembucú, and Presidente Hayes (South) are advised to prepare for potentially hazardous weather conditions. The alert highlights the dynamic nature of the weather system and the potential for rapid changes and intense phenomena.
