Paraguay's División Intermedia opens new chapter with referee assignments

The Paraguayan Football Association (APF) has announced the official referee appointments for the upcoming 18th matchday of the División Intermedia, Paraguay's second-tier football league. This round marks the start of the second half of the season, which comprises 30 matchdays in total.

The league's primary objective for competing teams is to secure one of the two promotion spots available for the top division. This weekend's fixtures are highlighted by a crucial encounter between 12 de Junio of Villa Hayes and Deportivo Santaní, both considered strong contenders for promotion.

The schedule kicks off on Friday, August 7, with Independiente CG facing Resistencia. The match will be officiated by Aldo Quiñónez, with Cristóbal Alderete and Félix Cantero serving as assistant referees. The second match of the day features 12 de Junio against Deportivo Santaní, overseen by referee Carlos Paul Benítez and assistants Luis Onieva and José Mercado. Notably, this game will utilize VAR technology, with José Natanael Méndez as the main VAR official.

Further matches are scheduled throughout the weekend, concluding on Monday, August 10. These games will determine the league standings as teams vie for a chance to compete in Paraguay's premier football division next season.
