Paraguayan cadet teams compete in South Central American Handball Championship

Paraguay is hosting the South Central American Handball Championship for Cadets in Asunción, with three national teams representing the country. The tournament features two U15 women's selections, Paraguay A and B, and one U16 men's team.

The "Asunción 2026" championship includes teams from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru, and Uruguay. The competition, which commenced on Tuesday, is scheduled to conclude on Thursday. The event is being held at the COP (Olympic Park).

In the women's U15 category, Paraguay A has shown strong performance, winning both of its matches. They defeated Paraguay B with a score of 26-22 and then secured a decisive victory against Peru, 52-28. Paraguay B also secured a win against Brazil, 20-18.

The men's U16 team, however, has faced challenges, losing both of its initial matches. They lost their debut game against Chile 28-17 and subsequently fell to Argentina 27-19. The tournament standings show Argentina and Brazil leading the men's group with 4 points each, while Paraguay and Uruguay have 0 points.
