Paraguay U20 defeats Uruguay in Diego Forlán's coaching debut

The Paraguayan U20 national team secured a 2-0 victory over Uruguay in Montevideo, in a preparatory match that also served as the debut for former star Diego Forlán as the coach of 'La Celeste'. The win for Paraguay, coached by Antolín Alcaraz, took place at the Complejo Celeste, the training ground of the Uruguayan Football Association.

Paraguay established its lead in the first half. An own goal by Uruguay in the 15th minute opened the scoring, followed by a second goal from Junior Gamarra, a player on loan at Sportivo Trinidense from Olimpia, in the 28th minute. The Paraguayan lineup included Leo Sosa, Mateo Giménez, Thiago Fernández, Fernando Herrera, Enzo González, Juan Falcón, Osmar Giménez, Giovanni Gómez, Junior Gamarra, Lucas Romañach, and Rodrigo Vera, with several substitutions made throughout the match.

Both Uruguay and Paraguay are using this series of matches as preparation for the XIII South American Games, scheduled to take place from September 15 to 25 in Argentina. The two teams are set to face each other again on Thursday at the same venue, with the match scheduled to be played behind closed doors starting at 3:00 PM.

The Paraguayan squad for the match featured Axel Bernal, Kevin Amarilla, Pedro Zarza, Joaquín Bogarín, Thiago Fossatti, José Buhring, and Milan Freyres, who were brought on as substitutes. This victory provides a positive start for Paraguay's U20 team as they gear up for the regional competition.
