Paraguayan president visits Peru for inauguration, heads to Ecuador for security pacts

Paraguayan President Santiago Peña has embarked on a diplomatic tour, first traveling to Lima, Peru, to attend the investiture ceremony of the country's newly elected president, Keiko Fujimori. Peña's delegation for this visit included First Lady Leticia Ocampos, President of the Chamber of Deputies Raúl Latorre, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rubén Ramírez Lezcano, and several other officials.

During his time in Peru, President Peña was also expected to hold meetings with local business leaders. The inauguration of Keiko Fujimori, daughter of former President Alberto Fujimori, followed her victory in the recent elections after a second round of voting.

Following his engagement in Peru, President Peña proceeded to Quito, Ecuador, accompanied by a similar delegation, though without the deputies Raúl Latorre and Hugo Meza. While the specific decree for this visit did not detail the reasons, local reports indicate that Peña and Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa agreed to the trip during the recent Mercosur summit in Asunción. The primary objective of the visit is the signing of seven agreements and memorandums of understanding between Ecuador and Paraguay, covering critical areas such as security and judicial cooperation.
