Paraguayan striker Sergio Díaz joins Ecuador's Barcelona SC

Paraguayan striker Sergio Díaz has arrived in Ecuador to join Barcelona SC, bolstering the squad managed by Venezuelan coach César Farías. Díaz, who most recently played for Sportivo Luqueño, expressed his eagerness to make a significant impact.

"Professor César Farías told me he wanted me to be part of the team. I come with great enthusiasm to give my best performance to the club, which is very important in Ecuador and internationally, as it always competes in the Copa Libertadores and fights for important titles," Díaz stated upon his arrival in Guayaquil.

The 28-year-old forward is known for his versatility across the attacking front. He conveyed that it would be an "honor" to wear the Barcelona SC jersey. Díaz began his professional career in 2014 with Cerro Porteño and has also played for Greek club Panetolikos.

Barcelona SC currently holds the second position in the Ecuadorian Liga Pro with 29 points, trailing league leaders Independiente del Valle, who have accumulated 40 points. The club has also recently signed Panamanian forward Tomás Rodríguez.
