Paraguayan Vice President meets Brazilian governor to boost investments

Paraguay's Vice President Pedro Alliana and the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Raúl Latorre, met with Jorginho Mello, the governor of Brazil's Santa Catarina state, to strengthen cooperation and attract investments.

The meeting, held at Paraguay's Vice Presidency, focused on identifying mechanisms to draw new investments, broaden cooperation, and generate more employment opportunities. "I see this meeting as a brilliant opportunity to continue strengthening relationships and seeking cooperation mechanisms," Latorre stated in a video shared on social media.

Discussions also touched upon the potential construction of a bridge linking the Paraguayan city of Mayor Otaño with Eldorado in Argentina's Misiones province. Such a connection would provide Paraguayans direct access to Santa Catarina, significantly reducing transportation costs for producers, boosting trade, and fostering industrial growth and job creation.

Furthermore, an agreement was signed between Paraguay's state-run Investment and Export Network (Rediex) and Invest Santa Catarina. This cooperation aims to enhance economic ties through business exchanges, trade missions, and the promotion of new investments and development opportunities.

President Santiago Peña has actively promoted Paraguay as an investment destination, undertaking several trips to Brazilian states since taking office in August 2023. Brazil is Paraguay's second-largest export market, accounting for 25.4% of its exports in the first half of 2026.
