Parents Protest Alleged Police Misconduct in Son's Death Investigation

In a deeply moving display of grief and determination, the National Parents' Association for the Disabled staged a 'five-body prostration' protest outside the National Police Agency in Seoul on April 15th. Director Kim Chang-min was reportedly assaulted in a restaurant in Guri City last October following a dispute over noise levels. He was struck during a physical altercation and later fell into a coma, eventually being declared brain-dead on November 7th. He passed away after donating his organs to four recipients. The parents' association contends that the initial investigation was insufficient and failed to adequately address the circumstances surrounding the assault.

The association's demands are clear: an immediate reinvestigation into Kim's case, accountability for the officials at the Guri Police Station involved in the initial inquiry, and a formal apology from the state and the police. This protest highlights a critical issue of trust between citizens and law enforcement, particularly concerning vulnerable communities.
