Pas confirms talks with BN on Melaka election cooperation have begun

Pas has confirmed that informal discussions between Perikatan Nasional (PN) and Barisan Nasional (BN) to forge cooperation for the Melaka State Election have commenced. The party's president, Abdul Hadi Awang, revealed that these talks, initiated three days prior at the central leadership level, are showing very positive developments.

"Alhamdulillah, the discussions between PN and BN three days ago yielded very positive results. We are taking inspiration from what was achieved in Johor and Negeri Sembilan," Awang stated at a press conference following a Pas Melaka charity dinner. He noted that the early stages already indicate a strong performance, suggesting a potential new phase for cooperation.

When questioned about the likelihood of a cooperation percentage between BN and PN for the Melaka polls, Awang deemed it too early to discuss. "That is still in the early stages. Even the early stages show very good performance," he said. He remained tight-lipped about Pas's specific strategy for Melaka, humorously remarking, "The referee's whistle for the game has not yet been blown."

Further negotiations are scheduled to continue soon. Awang indicated that these developments signal a new phase in the cooperation talks between PN and BN for the Melaka polls, even though the exact nature of the cooperation and seat distribution have not yet been decided. The positive momentum from recent elections in other states appears to be a key driver for this potential alliance.
