PAS, UMNO Youth aim to maintain cooperation until 16th General Election

The youth wings of Malaysia's PAS and UMNO parties are working to sustain the cooperation forged during the recent Negeri Sembilan state elections, with the goal of extending it to the 16th General Election (PRU16). This strategic alliance aims to bolster the political influence of the Malay and Islamic communities.

The meeting focused on the Negeri Sembilan state election, but we, the Youth wing, will try to ensure this relationship continues until PRU16 to strengthen Malay and Islamic political power.

Dr. Tengku Muhammad Fakhruddin Tengku Muhammad Fauzi, the election director for PAS Youth, stated that recent meetings between the two youth movements focused on discussing joint campaigns for the state elections. "The meeting focused on the Negeri Sembilan state election, but we, the Youth wing, will try to ensure this relationship continues until PRU16 to strengthen Malay and Islamic political power," he told Utusan Malaysia.

UMNO Youth Chief Datuk Dr. Muhamad Akmal Saleh had previously shared on Facebook about the meeting, expressing hope for positive outcomes. Photos accompanying his post showed leaders from both youth wings, including Muhamad Akmal and PAS Youth Chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden, interacting. Muhamad Akmal emphasized that the meeting transcended party lines, focusing instead on the interests of religion, race, and the nation.

However, all decisions on cooperation are not made by the Youth wing but by PAS Central and the UMNO Supreme Council.

However, both Dr. Tengku Muhammad Fakhruddin and the article note that the ultimate decisions regarding the scope and continuation of this cooperation lie with the central leadership of PAS and the UMNO Supreme Council, not the youth wings themselves.
