PAS Views Muhyiddin's PN Logo Stance as Premature

PAS Vice President Datuk Mohd. Amar Nik Abdullah has labeled Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's intention to use the Perikatan Nasional (PN) logo in the Melaka and Johor state elections as premature.

Mohd. Amar explained that the authority to issue authorization for the use of the PN logo rests with the PN Chairman, not the party president. "I think he (Muhyiddin) made a mistake because the authority or the authorization is signed by the PN Chairman, not the party president. He might have thought he could use it easily. It's not like that, there are regulations," he told reporters after attending the Pas Kawasan Pengkalan Chepa General Assembly.

Furthermore, Mohd. Amar questioned Muhyiddin's apparent shift in stance regarding the inclusion of other parties into PN. He noted that Muhyiddin had previously rejected applications from Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) and Parti Pribumi Perkasa Malaysia (Putra) to join PN. "I am surprised because before this he rejected Pejuang and Parti Putra wanting to join PN. Suddenly, after this situation occurred, he opened it up to other parties. So, it seems like there is a 'double standard' in his stance," Mohd. Amar remarked.

Media reports had previously indicated that Bersatu would remain a component of PN and utilize the coalition's logo for the Johor and Negeri Sembilan state elections, scheduled for July 11 and August 1, respectively.
