PASOK launches ferry price observatory with citizen-powered digital platform

The Greek political party PASOK – Movement for Change has announced the creation of a Ferry Price Observatory, a digital platform designed to systematically record the costs and key features of sea travel nationwide.

This initiative seeks to gather real-world data directly from citizens, building a database of ferry prices. PASOK stated its goal is to organize "what the government is not doing," aiming to formulate policies based on data, transparency, and public participation. The newly established digital platform allows passengers to input their travel details, including routes, departure and arrival ports, dates, times, ticket prices, seat categories, and any applied discounts or offers.

PASOK urges public participation, stressing that ferry services are more than just a commercial activity. They are a public interest matter directly linked to social cohesion, the development of island regions, and equitable access for island residents to employment, education, and public services. The party positions this initiative as a way to address issues that affect the daily lives and economic well-being of citizens, particularly those in island communities.
