PASOK lawmaker rejects 'defamatory' newspaper story, vows to fight on

PASOK lawmaker Manolis Christodoulakis has publicly rejected what he termed a "defamatory" front-page newspaper story targeting his family's company. In a social media post, Christodoulakis declared his refusal to engage with those who "habitually or out of necessity roll around in mud and mire."

I will never in my life make mud, either directly or indirectly, a conversation partner, nor those who roll around in the mud and mire out of habit or necessity.

Christodoulakis asserted that personal targeting by "corrupt centers and mechanisms" would not lead to compromise or wavering. He expressed pride in carrying the banner of political change with PASOK and its supporters across Greece. He emphasized his commitment to the political autonomy of his party, a stance he has passionately advocated for at party congresses and public appearances.

"My dreams and ambitions have my party, large and strong, and political change in the country becoming a reality through PASOK's victory in the upcoming elections," Christodoulakis stated. He added that these aspirations are fueled by the love, friendship, and camaraderie of those who share similar concerns and dreams, emphasizing that this passion cannot be bought like "rigged publications."

The lawmaker also noted that he is not the only PASOK member being targeted, suggesting that such actions aim to weaken the party by making its officials inconvenient for those who prefer it to be small and manageable. He concluded by stating that any "mud-slinging" must be addressed substantively and referred to a company announcement for details regarding the specific newspaper report.
