Passenger bus catches fire in Erzincan; no injuries reported

A passenger bus erupted in flames on the Erzincan-Sivas highway in Turkey, prompting a swift response from firefighters. The incident occurred near the Tunnels area as the bus, identified by license plate 35 TS 663, was traveling. The driver noticed the fire and immediately pulled the vehicle to the side of the road, contacting emergency services.

Fire crews arrived at the scene and battled the blaze with high-pressure water. The fire engulfed the bus, leaving it beyond repair. Crucially, the bus was empty of passengers at the time of the incident, meaning no one was injured or killed. This fortunate circumstance prevented a potential tragedy.

The fire caused significant traffic backups in the Sivas-bound direction of the highway. Authorities managed traffic flow on a controlled basis for a period while the fire was being extinguished and the bus was being cooled down. Once the bus was removed from the roadway, traffic returned to normal. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire.
