Passenger bus crashes into tractor-trailer on Vietnam highway, killing driver and injuring 8

A severe traffic accident on Vietnam's North-South Expressway has claimed one life and left eight others injured. The collision, which occurred on the night of June 21, involved a passenger bus and a tractor-trailer carrying a large steel frame.

The bus, traveling north on the section between Ham Nghi and Vung Ang, collided violently with the tractor-trailer near the Ky Trung intersection. The impact was so forceful that the front of the bus became severely deformed, wedged into the steel frame being carried by the truck. The bus driver, identified as 36-year-old Nguyen Tien N. from Bac Ninh province, sustained critical injuries.

Emergency services, including the Highway Traffic Police and firefighters, responded swiftly. They worked to extricate the victims from the wreckage and transport them to the hospital. Despite efforts, the bus driver succumbed to his injuries later that night. The eight injured passengers are currently receiving intensive medical treatment.

Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances that led to the collision. The incident has prompted a closure of the affected section of the highway to facilitate the investigation and clear the debris.
