Passenger train derails in southern England, carriages overturn

A passenger train derailed in southern England on Thursday, resulting in three carriages overturning onto their sides. The incident occurred near the tourist town of Lewes.

Emergency services, including firefighters and paramedics, were dispatched to the scene. Aerial footage showed personnel attending to passengers in a field adjacent to the track. Multiple ambulances and three helicopters were present.

One passenger described the train beginning to sway as it accelerated. The carriage they were in reportedly jolted, and the brakes were immediately applied. After the train came to a halt, the passenger observed that the rear carriages had overturned and slid down an embankment into a field.

The train was operated by Southern Rail and was traveling from London's Victoria station to Eastbourne. As of the latest reports, there were no official statements regarding injuries.
