Passenger Trapped After Car Overturns on German A7 Highway

A severe accident on the A7 highway in northern Germany left a female passenger trapped and seriously injured in the wreckage. The incident occurred between Egestorf and Garlstorf in the Harburg district.

According to police, the car was traveling alone when the 61-year-old driver allegedly experienced a seizure, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. The car veered off the roadway, struck a guardrail, and overturned.

While the driver managed to exit the vehicle with minor injuries, his passenger was severely trapped and had to be extricated by emergency services. She was airlifted to a hospital for treatment of her serious injuries. A dog that was also in the car was taken to a veterinary clinic as a precaution.

The accident led to a full closure of the A7 in the direction of Hamburg for two hours on Sunday afternoon. This closure resulted in an 8-kilometer traffic jam.
