Payment for personal assistants tied to subsistence minimum in Kyrgyzstan

The Cabinet of Ministers in Kyrgyzstan has established new conditions for the payment of personal assistants who provide care for individuals with disabilities. This decision aims to standardize and clarify the financial support provided to these essential caregivers.

Under the newly approved regulations, the remuneration for personal assistants will be calculated annually. The key factor in determining the payment amount will be the average monthly subsistence minimum. This figure is calculated by the National Statistical Committee and reflects the cost of basic necessities for an individual.

The scope of the new rules covers personal assistants working with children who have disabilities, as well as adults who have been classified with Group I disabilities. These individuals require continuous, round-the-clock care and supervision, making the role of a personal assistant critical for their well-being and daily functioning.

The resolution was formally signed by the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Adylbek Kasymaliev. The new payment structure is set to come into effect 15 days after its official publication, ensuring a timely implementation of the updated support system for caregivers.
