PB Jaya Raya celebrates 50 years, vows to continue producing great Indonesian badminton athletes

PB Jaya Raya marked its 50th anniversary with a celebration in Tangerang Selatan, underscoring its enduring legacy and commitment to nurturing elite Indonesian badminton talent.

The club, established on July 26, 1976, by entrepreneur Ir. Ciputra, hosted a ceremony attended by patrons, officials, coaches, athletes, and former members. This significant milestone also ushered in a leadership transition, with Susy Susanti officially taking over as the Chairperson of PB Jaya Raya, replacing Rudy Hartono Kurniawan, who had helmed the club for decades.

Susanti emphasized that the club's primary focus remains on robust and continuous athlete development. "Going forward, our main focus is strong and sustainable development. We must continue to find, nurture, and develop young talent with good training programs, quality coaches, and an environment that supports athlete development, both technically, physically, mentally, and character-wise," she stated.

In recognition of its founder, the club renamed its sports facility the GOR Ciputra PB Jaya Raya Bintaro Jaya. The hall, inaugurated in 2016, features 16 courts and supporting facilities like dormitories, classrooms, and a dining area. A book detailing the club's 50-year journey, "50 Tahun PB Jaya Raya, Tiada Henti Membangun Generasi Emas," was also launched.

During the event, awards were presented to individuals for their long service, including Rudy Hartono, Retno Kustiyah, and Imelda Wigoeno. Special recognition was given to Muhammad Zilazik Artando Zakaria and Afizzah Rahmadhani for their achievements in the U-17 mixed doubles, and to coaches Joko Riyadi, Tri Heru Pamungkas, and Eka Fajar Kusuma for inspirational coaching. The club also provided assistance to the families of late badminton figures Minarni Soedaryanto and Markis Kido.
