PDIP Backs State Policy Guidelines, Rejects Constitutional Amendment

The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) has confirmed its support for the State Policy Guidelines (PPHN), a framework whose discussion has concluded and is ready for the next legislative stage. PDIP's Deputy Secretary-General, Utut Adianto, stated that his party was a key proponent of the PPHN, aiming to ensure program continuity regardless of changes in government leadership.

Currently, the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) is considering three options for regulating the PPHN: amending the constitution, passing a law, or issuing a decree (TAP MPR). The constitutional amendment option is reportedly the strongest contender. MPR Deputy Speaker Eddy Soeparno indicated that amendments and TAP MPR are the most seriously considered, while a law is seen as weaker due to potential legal challenges and ease of revision by future administrations.
