Peace Now Accuses Israeli Government of Weakening PA, Undermining Oslo Accords

Peace Now, an Israeli anti-settlement watchdog, has accused the current Israeli government of actively working to weaken the Palestinian Authority (PA) and undermine the foundational Oslo Accords. The organization asserts that these deliberate actions are not accidental but part of a broader strategy to dismantle Palestinian self-governance.

According to Peace Now, the government's policies are creating a situation where the PA is increasingly incapable of functioning effectively. This erosion of Palestinian institutional capacity, the group argues, directly contravenes the spirit and letter of the Oslo Accords, which established a framework for Israeli-Palestinian cooperation and a path toward a two-state solution.

The watchdog group warns that by weakening the PA, the Israeli government is not only jeopardizing future peace negotiations but also potentially destabilizing the region.
