Trump Claims His Secretly Switched Plane Faced 'Greater Risk' Than Air Force One

Former US President Donald Trump asserted that the aircraft he used for a secret flight change in Türkiye last month was at greater risk than the presidential Air Force One. The clandestine maneuver, reportedly initiated due to an Iranian assassination threat, involved Trump disembarking from Air Force One via a catering truck after a NATO summit in Ankara. The White House had not disclosed the change, which was later reported by The Washington Post, quoting unnamed sources. Some commentators questioned the security of aides and journalists on the presumed presidential plane. Trump, however, suggested the alternative aircraft was the more likely target. "I think actually the plane that I flew on was at greater risk," Trump told reporters Tuesday. "I think it was at greater risk because that would be the plane I think that they would be more likely to go for." He emphasized that he was adhering to the directives of the Secret Service, the agency responsible for his protection. "I just follow what they'd like to do, so I go by Secret Service and the military," Trump said, adding, "I guess there was a threat out there. I didn't really ask too much about it. I get a lot of threats."
