Syariah Courts have an important role in resolving conflicts within marriage and family life, including disputes over marriage, divorce, financial maintenance, child custody and jointly acquired property.

The article says this responsibility must be carried out according to the principle of justice. It cites Surah al-Nisa, verse 58, which instructs that trusts should be returned to those entitled to them and that judgments between people should be made fairly.
