Pedersen and Skjelmose to captain Denmark at cycling World Championships

Mads Pedersen and Mattias Skjelmose will lead Denmark's charge at the UCI Road World Championships in Canada this September. The Danish Cycling Union (DCU) announced the full roster on its website Tuesday.

The men's road race team is a formidable lineup, featuring Kasper Asgreen, Mikkel Bjerg, Andreas Kron, Michael Valgren, Mikkel Honoré, and Søren Kragh Andersen. National coach Michael Mørkøv, who will not have Jonas Vingegaard available, expressed his satisfaction with the selected riders.

In the individual time trial discipline, Mikkel Bjerg and Kasper Asgreen will represent Denmark. For the women's road race, Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig and Solbjørg Minke Anderson are set to compete. "They have both delivered impressive results recently, and although we only have two riders, we have a strong pairing that I certainly expect will be in contention," said national coach Mette Andersen. Denmark will not field a team in the women's elite individual time trial.

Unlike last year, Denmark will also be represented in the youth categories for both road races and time trials. Among the notable U23 riders are time trial specialists Kristian Egholm and Mads Landbo, who have both won national elite and U23 time trial championships this year. They will compete in both the road race and time trial events.
