Pelindo and BNN Collaborate to Strengthen Drug Prevention Education for Students

PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) is collaborating with the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) to bolster drug abuse prevention efforts among Indonesia's youth. The joint initiative, titled 'Sobat ANANDA BERSINAR: Merdeka Tanpa Narkoba' (roughly translated as 'Shining Siblings: Freedom Without Drugs'), aims to educate and protect young people from the dangers of narcotics.

The program is set to reach approximately 900 students across nine different schools located in major cities including Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan, and Makassar. In Jakarta, one of the key activities is being held at SMA Negeri 18 Jakarta Utara, situated in the Tanjung Priok area, which falls within Pelindo's operational zone. This strategic placement underscores Pelindo's commitment to contributing to a healthy and productive community, particularly in areas directly impacted by its operations.

Through interactive sessions involving socialization, discussions, and question-and-answer periods with BNN experts, students are being equipped with knowledge about the hazards of drug use, risk factors associated with addiction, and the importance of maintaining healthy peer relationships. Pelindo's Group Head of Corporate Sustainability, Usman Saroni, highlighted the company's dedication to the communities surrounding its ports.

He added that Pelindo's preventive approach involves direct engagement with schools, especially those closest to its operational areas. Usman also emphasized the significance of the collaboration with BNN, noting that effective drug prevention requires multi-stakeholder involvement. He believes that combining BNN's expertise with Pelindo's community proximity will foster early awareness and encourage young people to recognize risks and reject drugs, contributing to a healthier and more competitive future generation.
