Penang Sukma Rugby Player Dies After Collapsing on Field

A young rugby player representing Penang in the Sukan Malaysia (Sukma) games has died after collapsing during a training session in Kulim. Muhammad Adam Putra Syahril, 21, was participating in a rugby practice at the Batalion 2 Pasukan Gerakan Am (PGA) field when he fell and lost consciousness.

He was immediately given initial aid by his coach but showed no response. An ambulance rushed him to Kulim Hospital for emergency treatment. However, medical officers at the hospital's emergency unit confirmed his death.

Syahril was a student at a higher learning institution in Arau, Perlis, and was actively playing for the Penang Sukma contingent. He was reportedly undergoing practical training in the Kulim district at the time of the incident.

Initial investigations indicate that Syahril had no prior medical history. A post-mortem examination will be performed at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar to ascertain the exact cause of his death. The case has been classified as a sudden death.
