Persija Jakarta Backs Coach Shin Tae-yong Amid KFA Sanction

Indonesian football club Persija Jakarta has declared its unwavering support for head coach Shin Tae-yong, even as he faces a one-year disciplinary ban from the Korea Football Association (KFA). The sanction stems from an incident of physical violence in 2025, where Shin reportedly slapped Ulsan HD defender Jung Seung-hyun while managing the South Korean club.

Despite the KFA's decision, Persija Jakarta President Mohamad Prapanca stated that the club fully backs Shin Tae-yong's continued duties. The team's focus remains squarely on preparing for the 2026 President's Cup and the 2026/2027 Super League. Prapanca urged all team members to remain concentrated on improving performance, unaffected by the current situation.

Shin Tae-yong is permitted to continue his professional coaching activities outside of South Korean football's jurisdiction. While Persija management respects the KFA's ruling, they maintain complete trust in the South Korean coach as he works to build the squad. Shin recently signed a three-season contract with Persija, extending through 2029.
