Pertamina Support Vessel Transko Dara 3218 Stands Ready Around the Clock to Move Energy

The small Transko Dara 3218 operates at the front line of tanker movements at Pertamina Patra Niaga’s Balongan refinery terminal in West Java. Its job is to help oil and gas tankers dock and depart safely and on schedule.

The vessel also transports personnel to the single-point mooring, an offshore floating facility where tankers berth and liquid cargo such as crude oil moves through the distribution system. Although much smaller than the tankers it assists, Transko Dara 3218 helps guide their movements in an area handling potentially hazardous products.

Pertamina Trans Kontinental Vice President for Legal and Relations Amran Reza said support vessels remain on duty 24 hours a day as Pertamina’s tankers move through the terminal. Transko Dara 3218 operates up to three times daily on average, rotating with other support vessels at the refinery unit.

Port operations for large vessels are critical, especially because tankers at the RU VI terminal carry high-risk oil and gas products.

Balongan plays a role in 80% of energy distribution to western Java, including West Java, Jakarta and Banten. Its distribution also reaches Pontianak, Banjarmasin, Kotabaru and several areas in eastern Indonesia.
