Pétur and Elísabet Put Their Túngata Palace on the Market

Pétur Freyr Pétursson and Elísabet Helgadóttir, the owners of the design store Vest, have put their distinctive townhouse on Túngata up for sale.

The 202-square-meter house was built in 1937. The couple completely transformed it after buying the property, adding custom-made interiors, stained-oak fittings and stone countertops. The kitchen includes a full-wall installation facing south, as well as a cabinet housing the main household appliances.

Elísabet said last year that the living room was her favorite part of the house because the couple used it far more than the living room in their previous home. Floor-length curtains, once not among her preferred design choices, had also made the room feel especially warm, she said.

It may be because we use it so incredibly much, which is completely different from how it was in our previous house. There, the living room was rarely used, but here it is the heart of the home. Something I never would have believed I would say is that I am absolutely delighted with our floor-length curtains. I have never been particularly fond of floor-length curtains, but here they fit perfectly and make the living room so warm.
