PH candidate works hard to win Sikamat seat, focuses on traffic issues

Nor Azman Mohamad, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate for the Sikamat state seat in Negeri Sembilan, is diligently campaigning despite being seen as having an advantage over his two challengers. The 46-year-old, affectionately known as Ustaz Azman, recognizes the significant legacy left by the former incumbent, Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, who held the seat since 2008 and served as Menteri Besar (Chief Minister).

He stressed the importance of meeting as many voters as possible, acknowledging that while they know Aminuddin Harun, they may not yet be familiar with Nor Azman Mohamad. He is actively engaging with the community through face-to-face meetings at homes, public places, and organized party events.

Azman, who served as Political Secretary to the Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar since 2022, believes this experience has provided him with a deep understanding of the community's needs and the issues faced by Sikamat residents. He expressed gratitude for the positive feedback received during the campaign but remains cautious, stating, "I have never taken the current competition lightly because there are various changes and sentiments at play." He hopes voters will rationally assess PH's performance at both the state constituency and state government levels to ensure continuity.

A significant issue highlighted by Azman is traffic congestion, particularly during peak hours, affecting residents in the long-established housing areas of Sikamat. He noted that congestion occurs not only during commutes to work but also when parents are dropping off and picking up children from school. "Congestion often happens during peak hours. When parents drop off their children at school, for the residents of Sikamat, that is a constraint. It takes a little time to get to Seremban town or the highway," he explained. Azman believes Sikamat requires alternative roads to ease traffic flow, based on current needs.
