Johor Introduces Deputy Exco Positions to Bolster State Administration

The Johor state government is introducing a historic innovation by creating deputy executive council (exco) positions for the first time. Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi announced the decision, stating that these new roles are designed to ensure balanced and inclusive development across all districts. This initiative aligns with the state's ambitious development agenda and the challenging economic landscape.

The creation of these deputy exco positions has received the endorsement of the acting Sultan of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail. Ghazi emphasized that the Johor Economic Transformation Plan (JETP) will be a central focus for the state administration. He highlighted the need to enhance administrative capacity to ensure that policies, projects, and programs are executed effectively and reach their intended beneficiaries.

He added that the newly appointed deputy chairpersons of committees must collaborate closely to monitor ongoing programs and projects and coordinate fieldwork.

Ghazi expressed confidence in the commitment to accelerate the "Maju Johor 2030" agenda and the success of the JETP. He assured that all manifesto promises would be translated into tangible actions and results for the benefit of the entire populace. Following the recent Johor state election, where Ghazi's Barisan Nasional coalition secured a dominant victory with 48 out of 56 seats, this administrative restructuring signals a move towards more focused governance and efficient service delivery.
