Photo Contest Launched for 1988 Seoul Olympics Images, AI Restoration Offered

The Korea Sports Promotion Foundation (KSPO) has launched a nationwide photo contest inviting the public to submit images from the 1988 Seoul Olympics and Paralympics. This initiative offers a unique opportunity for citizens who possess photographs from that era to have them restored using artificial intelligence (AI) video technology. The contest aims to preserve and commemorate the legacy of the historic event. A total of 13 prizes will be awarded, including a grand prize of 2 million won, following a three-stage screening process. Additionally, 100 participants will receive a special prize. Those interested in entering the competition must submit their applications, photos, and accompanying stories online or by mail by August 30th. The QR code on the contest poster provides access to the application form. The foundation plans to restore the selected photographs into AI videos, which will be showcased at events, including the ceremony commemorating the 38th anniversary of the Seoul Olympics scheduled for September 17th. This project seeks to bring historical moments to life for a new generation.
