Ambassador Nkechi Ufochukwu has officially assumed her duties as Nigeria's Ambassador to Israel, marking a new chapter in the diplomatic relations between the two nations. The formal commencement of her assignment followed the presentation of her Letters of Credence to Israeli President Isaac Herzog in Jerusalem.

The presentation of the Letters of Credence formally marks the commencement of her diplomatic assignment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Israel and reaffirms the Federal Government’s commitment to further strengthening the longstanding cordial relations between Nigeria and Israel.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that this ceremony reaffirms the Nigerian Federal Government's dedication to enhancing the long-standing cordial relationship with Israel. Ufochukwu conveyed the goodwill of Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and the Nigerian people to the Israeli government and its citizens. She expressed her eagerness to deepen ties and expand cooperation for the mutual benefit of both nations.

During her tenure, Ufochukwu identified several priority areas for collaboration. These include trade and investment, agriculture and food security, technology and innovation, defense and security cooperation, healthcare, and cultural and people-to-people exchanges. President Herzog, in response, indicated Israel's readiness to work closely with Nigeria, particularly in the fields of innovation and counter-terrorism.

Ufochukwu is among 65 ambassadors-designate whose appointments were approved by President Tinubu. The group comprises 34 career diplomats and 31 political ambassadors, reflecting a blend of experience and political representation in Nigeria's diplomatic corps.
