Pilar Regional Hospital lacks X-ray equipment; patients demand swift solution

Users of the Regional Hospital of Pilar are expressing significant distress over the ongoing unavailability of its X-ray equipment and the suspension of CT scan services. This situation compels patients to incur substantial costs by seeking care at private clinics or traveling to distant cities for necessary diagnostic procedures.

The primary hospital serving the Ñeembucú department is reportedly not providing conventional radiography services. Consequently, many individuals face financial strain as they must pay for studies at private facilities, which are often unaffordable for numerous families. The disruption extends to CT scan services, adding to patient concerns about the public health system's limited capacity.

Dr. Arnaldo Espínola, director of the Twelfth Health Region, acknowledged that the fixed X-ray unit is out of service due to a technical defect and a required spare part that must be imported. He assured that technicians would be on-site soon to address the repair. Espínola clarified that a portable X-ray unit remains operational for emergency cases.

Regarding the CT scanner, Espínola explained that it is temporarily unavailable due to ongoing renovation work at the hospital. Patients needing urgent CT scans are being referred to hospitals in San Ignacio or San Juan Bautista in the Misiones department. Despite these explanations, patients are urging authorities to expedite repairs, emphasizing the critical nature of these services for timely healthcare in Ñeembucú.
