Pilar Tani Initiative Seeks to Speed Up Subsidized Fertilizer Distribution in Garut

Pupuk Indonesia is using the Pilar Tani program to tighten the distribution of subsidized fertilizer in Garut, where just over half of the district’s allocation had been delivered by Aug. 27, 2026.

The company said 64,551.75 tons had reached the distribution system, equal to 55.21% of the 116,941.70-ton allocation. The total included 26,249.65 tons of urea, 38,261.50 tons of NPK fertilizer and 40.60 tons of organic fertilizer. No NPK Kakao had been distributed.

The Pilar Tani event, held in Garut on Aug. 28, focused on administrative evaluation and the latest rules for subsidized fertilizer distribution. It also reviewed transaction verification through the i-Pubers system between January and July 2026. Pupuk Indonesia said the forum was intended to identify field difficulties and develop improvements with the government and other participants.

In this activity, we are also seeking input to identify problems in the field so we can formulate improvements to increase the accuracy and accountability of subsidized fertilizer distribution.

Supply Chain Director Robby Setiabudi Madjid said better documentation would help ensure that transactions could be verified and that eligible farmers received the fertilizer intended for them. He also warned that distribution errors can create responsibilities for PPTS outlets under their sales agreements.

The Agriculture Ministry’s fertilizer director, Syamsuddin, said fertilizer availability supports food self-sufficiency and called for sound management. Garut has 11 PUD distribution units and 283 PPTS outlets supporting the program. Pupuk Indonesia said simplified regulations and lower purchase prices had helped improve national absorption.
