Plastic workshop in Hanoi catches fire, sending black smoke dozens of meters high

A fire erupted at a plastic workshop in the Phượng Đồng neighborhood of Hanoi on Friday morning, sending plumes of black smoke soaring dozens of meters into the sky.

Authorities quickly mobilized professional firefighting units, along with forces from the Chương Mỹ commune's People's Committee and the Military Command, to combat the blaze. Roads leading to the dangerous area were blocked by volunteer youth and civil defense forces to ensure public safety and guide residents along safe routes.

The fire, which covered an area of approximately 100 square meters, did not result in any casualties, according to a local official. The cause of the fire and the extent of property damage are currently being investigated by relevant authorities.

This incident follows a fatal fire at a wood workshop in the same Chương Mỹ commune on August 19, which claimed three lives. In that case, police initiated legal proceedings and arrested the workshop owner for violations of fire safety regulations.
