PLN CEO Oversees National Electricity Readiness for 81st Independence Day

PT PLN is mobilizing its resources nationwide to ensure a stable electricity supply for Indonesia's 81st Independence Day celebrations. CEO Darmawan Prasodjo is leading the charge, personally monitoring the situation from a command post in West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara, while connected to the central control in Depok.

He expressed gratitude for the government's support, highlighting the crucial role of cross-ministry coordination.

PLN anticipates a peak electricity demand of 42.6 gigawatts (GW) on August 17, 2026, with a generation capacity of 51.6 GW, leaving a comfortable reserve of 9 GW. To achieve this, over 45,000 personnel are on standby at 2,275 critical points across the archipelago. The company has also prepared extensive backup power and equipment, including 1,517 generators, 559 UPS units, and 1,286 mobile substations, along with numerous support vehicles and specialized equipment for rapid response.

The full support from the Government allows us to move more strongly. We want to ensure that every point supporting the ceremony and the series of independence celebrations, both nationally and regionally, has reliable and sufficient electricity.

Specifically for the Presidential Palace events, PLN has implemented a five-tiered security system for electricity, covering power plants, feeders, SCADA systems, UPS, and generators," Darmawan explained. He emphasized that PLN's readiness extends beyond the Independence Day celebrations, encompassing rapid response to any electricity issues nationwide.
